OMG!!!
Going raw and not blowing away in the wind is a part-time (maybe even full-time!! :) job!!!
I'll post more on this soon but...
Altho we started out strong, survived 8 days of travel (went to my friend John Mackey's (Whole Foods CEO) ranch for a sports weekend with cool peeps and then Aspen for a forum of founders of conscious businesses who sold their companies to multi-nationals), and I was actually feeling pretty good, I was alsofeeling (more than) a little ungrounded and realized now isn't quite the time for me to invest sooo much energy into food prep and simply thinking about how I'm going to pull it off!
So, after 23 days of 100% raw, we had Indian food. Cooked. Very cooked, Indian food. (And REALLY yummy cooked Indian food. :)
It was an *incredible* experience, tho. Fell in love with green smoothies (red lettuce/romain lettuce, sprouts, frozen fruit, cucumber, etc.), massaged kale (OMG yum!), and I got a glimpse of how I can go 100% raw and pull it off healthfully.
At the same time, it's WACKY how many different perspectives there are out there on what to do/what not to do. some say eat a boatload of fruits, some say fruits are evil. some say fats rock, others say they suck. my body was actually diggin what we were doing (a LOT of greens, good deal of fruit, also good deal of fat (avocados, cocunuts, olives)), but I was thinking about/planning to eat/eating/shopping/prepping what seemed like ALL. THE. TIME.
So....
Will come back to this raw thang.
For now??!? Enjoying the grounding energy of some more cooked foods and excited to officially launch PhilosophersNotes. Speaking of: sign up for $19.95 for the year now. Raising the price to $39.95 on June 1st.
fun!

I happily signed up tonight for PhilosophersNotes…I'd tried before, but something wasn't working with PayPal. This time, everything worked. I really like the subscription idea…I was hoping you'd offer that option.
Your work…zaadz/gaia…has added so much to my life. Thank you, Brian.
Enjoyed hearing about the raw diet…don't think I'll be trying it though :)
hey helen
thx for your kind words and support! hope you enjoy the Notes!!!
smiling about the raw diet. i'm excited to integrate more living foods into my diet and, ideally, find ways to support others in doing the same–without the need to go totally gonzo. :)
hugs and smiles,

Hey man 100% raw, 50% raw, 25% raw…you got to make what works for you work for you, right? It's eating consciously that matters. Consciousness, that's what guides your choices be they vegan or otherwise. Let's face it, it's hard to turn down a piping hot dish of Chana Masala or Vegetable Korma. Take note, many Philosophers and Sages have subsisted on Indian food, eh?. lol. ; )
heheheheh
well said, ROD!!
too fun. :)

Thanks for sharing your experience brotha. You know how I am with raw food, so I was really interested to see how it went for you. I can definitely dig the coconut and avocado - the kale, mm, not so much.
omg. i could LIVE on coconut and avocado. hehe
i'm tellin' ya: kale: strip the leaves from the stalk. put em in a bowl. put some olive oli (flax/hemp/whatever is fine) in there. massage it like you mean it. :) add some sea salt, tomatoes, mung bean sprouts, whatever else you're feelin and VOILA! taste-liscious. srsly. try it. :)
and we're overdue for lunch, yo!!!!!!!!!!!
I just checked the low-down on Nutrition Data, and it seems like Kale is the ish. I may have to start incorporating some of that into the uber-diet!
I'm way late in responding to this, but just wanted to share SUCH a grin of understanding. I found myself listing to someone last week as they gushed about how focused they felt during their raw food / fasting experiment, and found myself blurting out, “Oh, yes! It's EXACTLY the same for me. I get so focused on food and food and food and food that there's no room in my brain to even imagine anything else!”
Apparently this wasn't what they meant. Oops.
Anyway. I'm accepting the fact that I'm not a purist most areas of my life, and that this is okay. ;)
