I am no longer a virgin

So, Alison Stewart of MSNBC's "The Most" was cool enough to bring me on her show today for a quick little chat about Zaadz and our recent investment from John Mackey. (Thanks, Alison!)
--> check out the video: MySpace with integrity?
Seeing that I was a TV interview virgin before this morning, I thought I'd give a little play by play. :)
9:15 I roll into a studio in West LA for the taping. (Show's in NY). Receptionist and support chica are totally cool. (and vegan. nice)
9:17 They give me a quick look at the room I'll be filming in. Important highlights: there's a camera with a smiley face drawing stuck to its side. (Important note: I'm supposed to look at that smiley face and pretend I'm talking to Alison.) There's also a little TV right below the camera that shows the live feed of the show. Below that is a little TV that shows me.
(Thoughts to self: look at the smiley. Check.)
9:18 - Cruise into the green room. Chat with my new vegan friend some more. Fun. She does a good job of keeping things light.
9:30 Go back to the film room to get ready.
9:31 Makeup dood goes off. (Yes, I had him re-touch my makeup on my way out after the interview to make sure I was ready for the rest of the day. ;)
9:35 Prep dood asks me if I want to keep the TV screens with the live feed and shot of me on or if I'd like them turned off. I say, "Uh...first time...whaddya think?" He says, "Ah...let's turn em off. They can be distracting." I say, "Cool."
(thoughts to self. Hmmmm...I hope that was a good call.)
9:36 Audio dood puts in ear piece. We test it. Seems to be working fine.
9:40 Producers come on the ear piece. We're almost there. Sweet.
(thoughts to self: I'm surprisingly calm. My TV diva friend Jessica's advice about just relaxing and breathing is working. and go meditation practice! I'm not as nervous as I thought I might be. Oh...and thanks to my design diva Alta for the rec on avoiding white/patterned shirts. :)
9:42 - We're on! Sweet. Alison introduces the piece...
(thoughts to self: Uhhhhh...did she really just say that WHOLE FOODS invested in Zaadz and not John Mackey?!? d'oh. Hmmmm...wtf....do I correct her and look like an ass?!? Or let it go and look like a bigger ass?!? d'oh. Gotta correct her.)
9:42:30 I correct her.
* awkward *
(Hindsight Tangent: OMZ!! Where'd the smiley go?!? Apparently, he must have jumped of the camera and been running around the room cuz I'm looking ANYwhere but where I'm supposed to! Hah.
He's under the chair...no...he's over there....damn, he's fast! Now he's on the other side of the room... :)
9:43:00 - She says something. I can't really hear her.
(thoughts: Did she ask about the site or the name? d'oh. Better ask. :)
Damn smiley's running around again!
...
Honestly, I don't have a problem looking people in the eye. :)
Too fun.
Notes to self:
1. Make sure the audio's working and that you can hear the questions!
2. Don't let them turn off the baby TV that shows the actual show.
3. Don't let them turn off the other baby TV that shows what you look like.
4. Look at the smiley!
5. Hmmmm...maybe I should get a TV and start watching it to see how these peeps handle themselves so smoothly. (Especially the transitions...kinda like going 100mph and screeching to an awkward halt! How do those guys make that look so smooth?!? :)

YEAH!
i've been waiting all day for this post, ~Bri!
I was smilin just watching you smile so much!
You were Sincere, Warm, HAPPY, Proud, Energetic, Enthusiastic,
and down right CHARMING!
Congratulations!
I Love You & Thanks for Zaadz!
Big Hugs, XOXOXO
Your humility is admirable, but you were the very definition of smooth. Looked very natural. =)
…take it from someone who actually has a tv. ;)
i didn't notice the eyeliner. but the patented Blue Steel smile was all over the screen.
C4: The eyeliner was very subtle. Nice, eh? :)
Ladybear: What an awesome note. Big hug!
D: :)

PPS. ok just read now what u wrote in the blog so wonna say that to me this whole thing is what we wonna do… change this world n that includes the media as u were extremly authentic n down to earth n thats whats zaadz is all about so who cares if u correct someone on national TV or not… whats important is to be urself… n by u doing this it has now a rippling effect… so be it…
~love~
Dood!
I love the play by play. I'm cracking up all alone here.
The interview was great and you look even better.
I'll screen all the phone calls from the ladies for yah.
Nice job! Really! Your “first time” is usually much more awkward.
You should have seen…………. Never mind!
; )
You are so cool to share this with us! Doesn't matter how new I am here, I'm proud. YES!
Love & Peace
Brian, great interview! Wow, MSNBC! Fantastic! You got a lot of good information out there about Zaadz in a very short period. And, yes, you corrected her about the investment very nicely and smoothly. :)) Congratulations! You looked and sounded very sweet, aware, happy, excited, and passionate about what you're doing. I'll bet Zaadz gets a little spike in new members…. :)
Why did they put “philosopher” in quotations? Do they think you're kidding about that? They should put “Alison Stewart” in quotations. Geez.
Oh yeah, the interview was awesome too bro.
:)
fantastic stuff………..being of service. you can't say more than that.
joyous wishes from aotearoa.
bri, i'm so, SO glad you posted this vid as i haven't had a tv for several years. ha!
you radiated like a sun you looked so happy! wow. amazing energy!
clearly, little bri was having a veeeerrrrry good time. ;)
HUGE congrats on enjoying this moment so much and so well! Loved it. :)
you guys rock. It was fun.
thanks for all the support and laughs!
Loved it! Like my mom told me, you look adorable. And Alison Stewart rocks. According to MSNBC, she's the one who found Zaadz and wanted to do this interview. Great job, Bri!
Terrific account of the whole thing, worthy of a New Yawker essay. You give great camera,
Dood! (Like the new spelling! It's kule…)
:)
um, I have a confession though.
I just realized that this wasn't my first time.
*gasp*
I had a little TV interview with Access Hollywood (does that even count?!) at a party the night my buddy Kelly won The Apprentice II.
We hired Kelly at my last biz (before he won the apprentice). So, my friend and I (another guy who ran eteamz with me) got to say something profound like, “We said it before and we'll say it again…'You're Hired!'”
Gotta dig that one up. Funny.
I do know, however, that there were NO smiley faces involved in that one!
Dood!! OK. I wrote a string of Star Wars puns for Obi a year ago as a compliment. It fits you today. So here goes:
I gotta Han it to ya'.
You make us Luke good.
Yoda Obi Wan for me.
You Leia good line!
Jedi do alright with that?!
What can I say? The camera loves you baby! Jerry Springer? Montel? Rosie? Ellen? No limit on your sky Dooood! Keep up with the good chit chat. Or should I say, Jabba, Jabba, Jabba. Talk, talk, talk. Don't Force it. You wanna Lando on your feet. 'Cuz no one can truly fly Solo. Whatdaya think folks? We will follow him Antilles at the top! Oh God, somebody shoot my keyboard. I used to want to be a CEO, Padawan something else instead. (oooooooooooo, that was below the belt. Gotta go)
eBuzz bCuzz
WONDERFUL!!! Great job, B! So excited for you - Congrats on it all!
DAMN, son, the camera loves you!! (Excellent shirt choice, by the way - nice job Alta!) I too loved your play by play - great to know what was going through your mind before the camera even got to you….. I think you made your point quite clearly…. hee hee….seriously, you handled the situation beautifully on the fly - grace under pressure!!! Could not be more excited right now about the future of this world-changing venture called Zaadz!!!!!!!!!!!! (Do you think I used enough exclamation points to adequately convey my enthusiasm?????) You are gorgeous, amazing and filled with light and energy - this came through so beautifully in the clip. GO YOU AND GO ZAADZ - UNSTOPPABLE!!
Much love,
Beth
i dont have a tv, dammit! i think you might have a go at comedy, tho, Brian.
congradulations.
“I had a little TV interview with Access Hollywood (does that even count?!)”
No way dude. After that, i remember you telling me specifically, “Ninja, I am a born again virgin” ;)
Awesome Bri! I dig the wardrobe as well! And, I love that you got a chance to explain a bit about conscious capitalism! SO COOL!!!
Hey Bri,
Awesome “performance” for a virgin! I could tell the smiley guy was running around and not being attentive to you. Did your mouth get dry? (Secret to “live” interviews, always have a small mint under your tongue, it keeps your salivary glands pumping! For next time… ) I'm so proud of you and loved seeing your sparkling face, and heart, shining through to us and the world!
Access Hollywood doesn't count, small audience…you got Alison, HUGE audience, and she's the BOMB! A babe and real class act!
Thanks so for the play-by-play! Loved hearing how you sailed through the pristine waters of msnbc. No glitch with correcting her about John's investment in Zaadz, came across beautifully, handled like a pro!
I have to admit, you looked absolutely adorable too! Shirt was a wonderful soft color, emanating peace and stillness. Beautifully, glowing and loving smile. I felt the love.
Did Oprah call? She'll want to know more about “Conscious Capitalism”, (although I already sent her a Zaadz invite)! You're on the show, I know it!
Awesome!!!! Great choice of color for the shirt (perfect for spring) and you looked calm, radiant, and real.
No pretentions. Congrats and I can't wait to see more interviews on TV.
WOW!! Awesome! Zaadz has reached “The Tipping Point” and now onto the complete Paradign Shift!
Brian…that was wONEderful!!
:))
perfect in fact!
Awesome! Congrats! Way to Go!
You were absolutely adorable, like a kid's first interview…like giggly, dood ;-)
I watched first, then read the play by play, which I thoroughly enjoyed…fuuuuunnnny!!!
Looking forward to many more interviews with you!!!
Love and a Standing Ovation!!!
Oh, wow. I must say that was too short for even a decent understanding of the site. But, very well done.
I hope that Zaadz getz more.
Oraktoraeneo: Seriously short, eh?!?
Resurrected1: I'm laughing at how much I was one big giggle. Totally like a kid in a toy store. hehehehe.
Healing Artist Entrepreneur: I did remember them telling me I couldn't drink my water. Was a little parched there at the end. :) Mint, huh? I think I'll have to practice that one! Thanks for the tip! :)
eBuzz: Uh. huh huh. Hilarious. :)
Dave: Good point. I almost forgot about our chat. :)
Enlightened.thinker: Tipping point here we come!!!
Beth: What an awesome note. Gonna make me blush, gurl!
Lucidity, Nikki, MsCapriKell, axiom & Jessica: Thanks, guys!
Brian, Zaadz totally ROCKS!
You've planted the seed, now watch it grow!
Didn't see the eyeliner; I'll just watch the video over and over until I see it :)
thanks, mowie. I was too busy giggling to strike a blue steel pose and showcase the eyeliner. :)
* adds another note to self. *
:)
I am soooo glad I got to read the inner dialogue before I hear the outer one! So incredibly entertaining, now I'm going to watch and see if I can catch a glimpse of that smiley face….
Kudos, Brian! Great job. It must have felt like a whirlwind that was over so quickly, “wait a minute, what happened?” Damn, I give you mad props. I definitely would’ve been shaking.
You got the message across, an important message.
Thank you for all that you’ve done and continue to do. We’re all cheering you on!
nicole: It must have felt like a whirlwind that was over so quickly, “wait a minute, what happened?”
Um. Are we still talking about my first time on TV?
hehe.
Seriously. it was fast!
Oh, that’s great! I really wasn’t even thinking along those lines. Thanks for the laugh! :-)
Well, don't get me wrong, I love what was said. (If you were expecting anything more to that statement, there's nothing else.)
For them to have done something on Zaadz, they had to think that Zaadz was worth it, which they obviously did, but with so many other sites out there - MySpace, Face…whatever - I would imagine it to be hard to seperate Zaadz from other sites in the eyes of the general populous. Keep in mind all of this is at face value. Zaadz is something far more if people delve deep into it. It has allowed me to meet many people that even I can tell care, which, in turn, allows me to care about them, genuinely. I just wonder if someone looking on would listen to words that people say about it, without simply dismissing it as “just another site like MySpace.”
And, please know Brian, I mean NO disrespect in ANYthing that I have said. But, if you feel that I have said something out of turn, tell me. I respect your place, and know mine - God knows I couldn't confront MSNBC.
Be well, and thank you.
n: I'm here to amuse. :0
o: totally get what you're saying!
I wish I had known about this before, I could've saved you the confusion (or not–since it's been so amusing for everyone;) I was a news producer/reporter for NBC for five years! If you need any television/video advice in the future–please let me know.
Gah! Totally forgot about that, Meagen.
I will be in touch. :)
hehehe
Awesome! You did a great job with the interview. I hope you have more interviews in the future where you get to promote Zaadz, our community!!!
Thank you, my friend. The camera does do well for you, too.
EEEZAADZ! This is awesome! I'm so happy for you and us!
You were so authentic it brings a tear! Make that two tears. No a whole bathtub full of happy tears!
You did a superb job - first with the vision and now with an interview. I say “an interview” 'cause you know there will be more. (psst - you did know that right?)
BIG BIG HUGS and Blessings, David
You did GREAT! (P.S. I actually appreciated your correcting her - an important distinction to make!)
AWESOME!!!
BRIan…. You did a fanTAStic job! I am still smiling and I think you were wonderful at transitioning. I liked that you kept that smile on and I am sincerely impressed you are a virgin as it didn't come through in your interview at all. I was totally distracted by the Cal' accent and GO-jus, big smile. (Wait. I'm flirting again, aren't I? Doh!)
Well, you could've asked Alison, “WTF did you say?” and I wouldn't have noticed.
Hee hee
;)
It's a paradigm shift right before my eyes!
.., from OMG
….to OMZ!
(Tho, I forfeit witness to the steel blue smile, due to my dingy dial-up).
Seriously tho.. This is amazing!
I would say pardon for the exclamations.., but.. my character is loaded with them at times.., never mind, all this is worthy!
Congradulations!
-Nancy
(Here's another Pardon if this shows up twice)
Congratulations Brian! BIG TIME!
You did and are doing an AMAZING job.
Absolutely FANTASTIC!
With respect & God bless,
-Harlem
Brian,
At last…a well deserved fame boost! You rock Brian: I KNOW that walking your talk for changing the planet for the better on a level like zaadz, requires some bottle!
Told you so, didn’t I, that you-guys are now on you way up: keep being genuine and holistically minded! As for moi, well, I am getting a lot of attention too but I am very happy also to be a zaadz ambassador because of the quality of goodness that you carry..So Brian…we ought to meet for a cosmic talk soon…Are you on?
Warm regards et continuez votre mission noble…

Brian,
You did a great job spreading the Zaadz!
Thanks for doing such a great job getting the word out about Zaadz, and looking remarkably calm, intelligent and collected in the process. You’re an inspiration to us all, and I look forward to seeing you on many more TV interviews in the future!
Hey Brian!
I’m a media guy, zaadzster-lite, but a big fan of the site.
Sure, some of your blog’s self-criticism was accurate, but I experienced your “roughness around the edges” as highly connecting and watching it brought me closer to you, a fellow I already liked and respected.
A PRIUS IS A PRIUS IS A PRIUS - NO NEED FOR IT TO WISH IT COULD BE A CADILLAC.
all the best on a terrific mission,
Mark
Much love man. Cameras definitely have the effect of turning you into a different person. Besides the awkward silence after correcting her, I think the interview was awesome. But hey, that’s their bad for not having the right info.
Hope this leads you into inviting other social enterprises to participate in this Zaadz's social venture so members can discover other business models that make the world a better place while making money. Just last week Skoll's World Forum convened - giving many of these exciting new entrepreneurs (like you) a chance to exchange ideas. I've been so inspired by them, including LaborFair right here in the S.F. Bay Area
Brian, I liked that! A lot. :) After my appearance in national television in a show called “Crazy Finland” (yeah, that is a direct translation) being a “young expert on horror movies”
(14 years ago!) your spot has got to be the single most envigorating piece of tv interviewing ever to air! No kidding ;) Very cool for Zaadz, it takes a lot of courage to be in front of those cameras. At least I remember looking around like an owl! Way cool, bro!
Brian I can just say….. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Oh God this is just wonderfull…. please keep on being you
:)
Brian,
You have definitly set a standard with Zaadz, hope this interview sparks others to take a look at this awesome sight you have created for all us peaceloving people out here.
Much love to you.
Lori
P.S. you looked very sweet
Hey Bri!!
So THAT’s what you look like! :) You did a GREAT job!! The first time I was in a TV studio, shooting a real television show, I smiled just like you did, what a sureal experience isn’t it?
Whoo HOO the world just got a shot in the arm ! I am sending good vibes and intentions for a lot of great people to find their way here.
Nicely done Brian!!
Viki Your Buddha Buddy
Brian-
Congratulations on the piece on television. It was pretty funny. I am glad you left us a 'behind the scenes' scenario, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I watched it first and thought, “Boy, he looks like a boy who just approached the girl he has had a crush on all his life and can all but do is stare at the floor… oh, wait, no, maybe not… getting better…” You did wonderful, I could not do that, but I guess you never know, the flippin smiley face was hilarious. I laughed so hard. Actually everything you said was funny, kudos to you, Brian!
~*Barb*~
I often find myself thinking I am still a virgin when, in reality, if I think about it, I realize with some sense of wonder,
I am no longer. Happens to the best of us…;-)
ps…no one believed your posting title anyway
i'm so proud! go zaadz!
Looked great there Brian! When I saw the email announcement with
“The rest of the team …but we found out… that most of us (including Bri) don't own televisions” it totally energized my connection with the Zaadz project! its pretty unusual to have, as I do, most of my friends not plugged into tube-land. And, as a bit of a coincidence, a project called the Mother-Daughter Project that my wife and daughter are part of was featured on MSNBC just hours ago on the Today Show. Several moms and daughters lost their network broadcast virginity there too.
Brian
That was great. No worries, you got the wind under you very qucik and took off.
wow…i actually was here live…while you were there live…wow…..oh no, oprah will want you now and you'll be so popular …you won't have time to zaadz we zaadzters….looking good!!!!
Excellent job Bri-
It IS nerve wracking doing an interview like that. You handled it with integrity.
I really do appreciate this site. A LOT. i have discovered new friends, and met people in person without hesitation from the site. It has helped me out on several occasions.
Inspire on!
Thanks
Gg
LOVE it all, guys.
Quick note though, Mark: ”A PRIUS IS A PRIUS IS A PRIUS - NO NEED FOR IT TO WISH IT COULD BE A CADILLAC.”
First: who in their right mind would ever wanna be a Cadillac?!!? My thought: If you're gonna play, might as well roll in a Tesla, eh? :)
Too fun.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you!!! :)
-bri
ooooo…. you said Tesla
**{swoons}**
Only for you, Brian, would I watch television news. Gave up the box long ago, but it warmed my heart to imagine someone with your integrity spreading the love. Thank you for overcoming the jitters to share your message with the masses. Very proud.
BRAVO & Kudos my dear Bri.
Oh yes, I meant to say dear. You are so dear to so many (me too) and not just because of your over the top ability to be authentically engaged in your highest potential (…to change the world) but because without ever even knowing my name –you stand to cause my engagement on higher ground, the fertile soil that is mine to till, nurtured by Zaadz and blooming in my real life! That’s huge! This spectacular virgin interview is a really big deal for Zaadz but you and the space you hold on higher ground is SO way bigger! So here’s a big Thanks for being your smiling self for the world to enjoy and congratulations on the 50,000 plus you guys attract (oh agreed…that could be dollars as well a members ~giggle giggle)
May many smiling hugs meet you today, my dear friend!
Synerjyz
thank you Brian for this bright interview & introduction to Zaadz ~ and yes, you were just brilliant !
It's about time Bri!! One can stay a virgin JUST SO LONG!
You really were wonderful; brilliant? - who needs that!! Zaadz is brilliant!!
One can easily imagine how difficult and EXCITING being in such a situation would be!
I sent the video link to many of my non-member friends. I'll wager that zaadz will take a major boost in membership from this. Congrats! young philosopher and prince of PR.
Brian dearest!!!!!!!
This is really REALLY fun, exciting and again, ONLY the beginning!
The New York Pod is cheering you on, and I'm sending big love!

Listening to the KIVA leader talk on NPR/KQED's program, The Forum, last Friday I was so inspired by the discussion of how individuals anywhere in the world can directly lend to others to enable them to launch a venture.
I called in to tell them about another person-to-person, social venture, also based in S.F (as is Kiva, a part of our zaadz community) named LaborFair.com http://www.laborfair.com
LaborFair, an online referral community, supports the working poor in moving up the economic ladder. And it, too, happens through a one-to-one, mutually beneficial way that, as mentioned on The Forum, sidesteps the usual charity “Benefactor/Supplicant” relationship.
Via LaborFair.com, workers can post worker profiles, photos and references, then enjoy direct, online connection with ready-to-hire people. Workers get to build their reputation by attracting positive reviews at LaborFair when they do a good job.
Socially conscious consumers (like the people here at zaadz) can find and contact reliable help fast. Plus they get the satisfaction of knowing that people who work for them get to keep all of their pay (by not working through an agency) and by spending less time and money on advertising or blanketing a neighborhood with flyers.
Think of LaborFair.com as an Ebay for household services with a fair trade component.
If you live in the S.F. Bay Area you can experience a “double good” right now.
Need your home cleaned, garden readied for Spring, errands done or fence repaired? Help yourself to more free time and support competent workers to creating a better life for themselves.
Then come back here - please! - and share your experience with me. My friend and the remarkable woman who co-founded LaborFair.com are eager to hear from you.
After all, isn't that what Brian and zaadz is all about?
What a great step for ZAADZ ! Congratulations on bringing to your work to the awareness of considerably more people that will enrich the site and the experience.
I believe a great step towards changing the world has been taken.
Thank you Brian, you brought a bright light in the TV realm.
I am gonna have to go find high speed internet ……………………….. gotta see this!
But I don't have to see it to be totally excited about the Zaadz word gettin out there.
(Brian …………..wow you are funny too!)
Brian, I saw your spot and that first step for John was gracious. The peeps may have seen it as a correction directed at Allison but we know it was for John. Thanks for your courage, always Brian, especially out on the point. Ron
Hey Brian,
The Whole Foods/John Mackey correction was very cool. It seemed to me like you were faster on your feet than Alison, she didn't even acknowledge that important difference. And, yeah, you were way smoother than I was on my first TV appearance, it was on the Bozo show about 20 years ago, and I leaned in front of Bozo to stick out my tongue and wave at the camera while he was explaining the game we were about to play. My mother was so embarassed!
Rock on, zaadz is the best,
Steve
Awesome work Brian!
Way to represent this beautiful site and seed that we are all nourishing and helping grow. It takes a lot of courage to face the world and stay focused and you did a wonderful job doing just that. I am so proud and honored to be an ally of yours and all these wonderful people in this wonderful community of conscious creators.
Joseph
Oh Brian…
How can all this sweets, smarts, & wisdom fit into one youthful body! You go dood… you darn good!!
PJ
I’m sat here thousands of miles away from the US feeling sooooooo proud of the news broadcast!! I imagined all the people watching the news with zaadz of change taking root in their minds. So very wonderful!!
Thank you a thousand times over, Brian!
