Brian : PhilosophersNotes.com 50 Word "Mini-Sagas"

50 Word "Mini-Sagas"

Posted on Dec 7th, 2007 by Brian : PhilosophersNotes.com Brian

(Finally!) Reading Daniel Pink's "Whole New Mind."

Genius.

Big Ideas coming soon but wanted to capture the exercises I just did at the end of his chapter on the importance of "story" in the emerging conceptual age.

He has you write 50 word (no more, no less!) "mini-sagas" to hone your story-telling abilities. His examples in the book are genius.

Here's what I wrote this morning:

(Again, remember the rule of the exercise: 50 words. no more. no less :)

On the Journey

Sitting, writing in a chair in Pune having fleed from the chaos of Mumbai in search of tranquility to read, to think, to create that we hope the beaches of Thailand will afford.   Dreams dance in his head--a year in a beautiful land, two hundred books in his hand.

On Love

10 days of meditation, clarity on a life decision, engaged to be married, he sets off on the next journey of his life. His future wife, the embodiment of all that he adores: laughter, openness, warmth, joy, wisdom, love, so much (yum!) sexiness...and she reads 6 hours a day!

I read 200 books, optimize my life, meditate daily, while creating 100 Notes, a life worth living, a business worth building and abundant love. All on the beaches of a far away land away from the noise of fast internet connections, blackberries ringing, and habits so deeply ingrained. Pinch me.

Reading this blog, thinking about being in Thailand by the time tomorrow's new moon is full, …my wife entered the room to say goodnight. Today is her birthday. I feel as compelled to reach out to each of you here as I do to go join her. These go together.

She sheds her shoes to brush God with the weakness of her feet.  She crouches like a grithman, hugging holy stones by the swelled belly of the moon, breathing like the scrape of leaves.  Below, the ocean sleeps with a secret hunger for pale fish who have found their peace.

Terry: :)  it is a really cool tool.

Lisa Lisa: LOVE it!! I'm running out of the internet cafe or I'd get a 50-worder reply for ya. Can we read books and each other, tho? :)  There's nothing sexier than reading next to your love for hours a day and interspersing that with lessons learned and other such pleasures. :)

I'm off!

Searching for a brand new mind and finding a book about it in this post from my friend Brian. Starting to read Klein's book “Open to the Unknown”. Six hours of reading today would be heaven!

Cheers!

On relating

Can relating begin? Can it end? According to particle physics, any two particles that have been connected at one time, even if separated to the ends of the universe, can send information faster than the speed of light. Does this mean love is faster than light? I think it might…

Love it!  Love the ph.d. program you've created for yourself.  Sign me up for the book.  Busy creating possibilities here in the Inland Northwest but couldn't do it without your inspiration.  Travel safe, soak it up.   Which deep love and respect.  Namaste…
