Brian : PhilosophersNotes.com I hart my job

I hart my job

Posted on Jul 14th, 2006 by Brian : PhilosophersNotes.com Brian

Dear Diary:

(I've always wanted to start a blog post with that and this post is so diary-esque I had to. Hah.)

I hart my job.

Just got back from Boulder where I got to spend some time with two of my favorite mentors and some great friends and Zaadzsters.

Wednesday's highlight: three hours with John Mackey (CEO of Whole Foods) talking about Zaadz and life and fun stuff. It was like playing ping pong with a kid who could play all day just like you. :)  John is seriously one of my favorite human beings on the planet and I'm giddy and honored to have him as a mentor as we build Zaadz. Pinch me. Then read a book he had just read (and highlighted the heck out of!) before din-din with him and his wife who happens to be an extraordinarily cool sufi yogi. Fun.

Thursday's highlights: a quick "what up?!?!" with Matthew and Brondu. Love those guys. BRILLIANT, compasionate and passionate human beings with whom I'm thrilled to be creating zaadz.

Then went to Denver for lunch with my friends Shawn Phillips and Rob McNamara who run Full Strength and Integral Fitness. Two guys incredibly passionate about increasing the health and fitness of our world.

THEN cruised over to KDub (officially known as Ken WIlber)'s loft and spent three hours chatting with him. that dood's kinda smart. (ahem.) Rapped about everything from integral politics to integral veganism and the building of Zaadz. (I think my brain hurt a bit afterwards...in fact, I know it did. :)

THEN THEN drove back to Aspen where C and I are spending the month with her (really cool) fam and spent the cell-phone-reception-friendly time chatting with Dave about all the amazing progress we're making with our partners and with Aaron about the fact we're launching the long-awaited zPages (launched!), zBooks (coming soon!), and zEvents (coming soon!) ALL within the next 72 hours. That's cool.

Yes, it's official. I hart my job.

Back to it!  :)

(oh, btw: soooooooooooooooo much cool stuff coming this summer. :)

Dear Brian's Diary,

you think -B likes  his job?

what he forgets to mention is that through his job he has already changed so many people's lives.

apart from the influence his wisdom and generosity has had on hundreds of zaadzters' lives he has also given a bunch of totally cool people the opportunity to really love their jobs.

in fact, job is the wrong word here. i've always seen a job as something you do for money.
and work is what you do to improve yourself and the world.

Yes, i do get paid to use the coolest technology in the world, to help build the most commited online community in the world, and ultimately to change the very face of this world and empower millions of people to live happier, fulfilled lives.

But even if i were to win the biggest lottery ever (very unlikely seeing as i do not play the lottery :) and not need to work for money anymore - i'd still be here (well, maybe on my yacht) churning out cool tools to change your world.

this is pretty much the feeling i've been getting from everyone on the team, so seriously, when we say we heart our jobs it is a total understatement.

You're right Bri Guy!!  I just posted some unwittingly helpful advice on that thread and it is amazing how, without even changing the photo, the new muscle is making an auspicious appearance.  It would be nice if it were having that same effect on his abdominal region instead of in the form of pulsing forehead veins and clinched fists and oral-sphinteral gravitationally challenged maxillo-facial spasm  (he's frowning).   It must be a direct physiological response to the wearing of my G and the udder inevidiblility of it getting caught around that old lady's neck in the unfortunate accident I had while taking the photo described in that thread, in a very professionally set up pose down session at Soldier Field during a Packer's game.

Wow - what an amazing week you're having.  Now that's a powerful way to get your juices recharged!  Thanks for sharing all that you are.  It's a great reminder of who I am (we are).  You rock, Brian!  I'm blessed to have you and Zaadz and the whole Zaadz family in my life.

joy and Nancy: :)

Adontai: yepperz. Good chat. Primary theme from my side: recognizing/avoiding the vegangelicalism that can occur at a “green” perspective (I've been there), allowing for multiple perspectives, holons, depth and span and all that good stuff while embracing my own spiritual commitment to honor all sentient beings through my vegan lifestyle. And other stuff. :)
